CARLA M. GIBSON, Chairperson/CEO

Carla  M. Gibson a native of North Carolina made her mark in the Washington,  DC area as a Federal Government employee for over 20 years. As a current  resident of Prince George County, Maryland she has dedicated her time  to assisting her children with their community efforts by lending a hand with The Girl Scouts of America and also other community organizations such  as Nanci's Gifts and Aces Angels among others. She truly enjoys the  time she spends with her family and friends and believes her southern  upbringing plays a strong role in her ability to show hospitality to all  she meets.

In 2009, Carla as diagnosed with Carcinoma in SITU, also  known as Stage Zero cancer. This discovery caused Carla to seek viable  information and educate the public on early detection. As a ten plus year cancer survivor, she gives her praises to God and feels very fortunate  to be able to stand in front of others to raise awareness.   Her main  goal is to make others understand the importance of  early detection,  diet and the role genealogy plays on the road to saving lives.

With  this goal in mind, she formed Powerful Divas with a Purpose in May,  2014 and has since taken it from a health and wellness fair to focus on  other community issues, to not only include cancer awareness, but  domestic violence, youth and elderly services, job training and shelter  programs.

Through perseverance and  prayer, she is trusting in God and having Him order her steps towards  her purpose. She will continue to  convey to others the importance of  taking care of their mind, their body, their health and their spirit no  matter what adversity comes their way.  She promotes Faith,  Hope and  Love in all aspects of life...with these you will find the strength to  cope with any challenges.

Her  hard working and dedicated Board of Directors have elevated Powerful  Divas with a Purpose to a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization status and  will remain focused on providing needed services throughout our  community while providing growth and improvement area wide.
